Trauma bonding in the Surrey hills
I'd bring back the old style medals and turn up the volume on the microphone.
But fantastic overall thanks to all involved!
Also maybe bring back the singing.
Hi Gareth. Definitely with you in turning up the PA system next year! As for the medals, we took the decision to move to a more sustainable material, sourced ethically, with the wooden medals cut and etched in the UK, so very low transport mileage. They double as reusable coasters as well. Glad you found the trauma bonding session enjoyable!
Very hard but great route. Well organised and welcoming
stunning route, friendly atmosphere
Challenging but beautiful out and back race in the Surrey Hills. Everything you want in a trail race.
Excellent marshals and delicious cooked breakfast at the end.
Excellent in every respect
Better signage for the food hall please
Totally agree about the signage, Graham. Next year we will definitely have large signs saying 'Get Your Delicious Cooked Breakfast Here'. Although I think the smell of sizzling bacon helped people find their way this year. Thanks for the hug at the end, by the way!
Tough
Ditch the wooden medal, no one wants them. Bring back the fantastic metal ones!
Breakfast was fantastic.
Brilliant event!
An excellent local race
Some great scenery, very peaceful. It’s definitely pretty tough, but it’s still suitable for all levels. And one of the best postrace packs out there!
Still a super morning out!
Huge thanks to the new event team, great race, course, scenery, cooked breakfast, goody bag and weather! Suggestions to make it even better in 2026: can there be an informal kids race after the main one leaves? This was nice in previous years. And a 5 min warning in the school for those who want to watch the wife carrying race (we just missed it, although that's obviously our fault!)
Thanks for your feedback, Stephen. We will certainly take it all on board when planning for next year.
Always tough, but we all need a challenge
Third time here running (the inaugural in 2008 and 2023, 2025) and marshaled last year. It continues to be a well organised but very challenging race. Thank you to the new organisers for taking on Dr Rob's baby! Just three comments. It was always short and adding the loop at the start should have corrected that, but the section at the summit has also changed resulting in an over-distance course (I had it at 13.25). Secondly (and maybe it's just me), I find a wooden medal underwhelming after all that effort and preferred the chunky metal variety with the Leith Hill logo I've had before. Lastly, any chance that we could have real beer (or at least the option), rather than the "decaffeinated" variety? Thanks again and also to the marshals - I stood in my spot for well over 4 hours last year so I know what a long day it can be!
Thanks, Dave. All good points which we will take on board, along with all other feedback about the many aspects of the day, when we start to plan next year's race. Glad you liked the event!
2025 - perfect conditions
So well organised, this was my first time at this event which is pretty local to me. The course conditions were perfect, the weather amazing, and the marshalls did a great job. The breakfast was well received at the end. Will definitely be back! Thanks all for the event
Beautiful scenery, steep hills!
Well organised, friendly marshalls and a cooked meal at the end. What’s not to like!
Tough trail in beautiful Surrey hills
Just to let you know, motorbikes were right behind us, revving their engines, as we were heading towards the Tower. There were lots of us going up one side and many people going down. It was a dangerous situation for motorbikes to be coming up behind us with so many people on the trail. We pulled in, but didn't realise more bikes were following. Luckily, the first motorist gestured to let us know more were coming. Not ideal and important to be aware of. Also we couldn't hear the microphone for at the start for the starting guidance. It was brilliant otherwise and I just wanted to let you know of these things for next year. Thanks so much for the breakfast!
Hi Una. Thanks for your feedback about the motorbikes. Although parts of the course are a BOAT (Byway Open To All Traffic) the narrow track near the Tower is not, so I will pass that information to the National Trust, who is the landowner there. Glad you enjoyed the race overall!
Excellent race on great trails!
Challenging but rewarding
Great event - slick organisation. Loved the fry up at the end
Stunning route. Tough climbs
As a runner from Oxfordshire, where there are no hills, I loved this event - marshals were super supportive and helpful. I was near the back and there were a few times when I was on my own (not a problem) but I got confused a few times about direction - a few more markers maybe? There were members of the public around who pointed me in the right direction.
Well organised as ever, seamless transfer to new organisers
Rolling and hilly playground
What a fantastic experience, very rolling hilly and fast route. I felt burning enough my legs in every hill up, It was really fun. I definitely will come back next year for more.
It was a placer to share a good time with you guys.
I hope see you soon again.

Best half marathon I’ve run in years
What a fantastic event! Superb organisation, lovely HQ venue, well signposted course, friendly atmosphere and all staff and volunteers were superb. I finished 11th and loved it. Congrats to everyone involved, absolutely nailed it. See you next year!
Fantastic race, well organised, friendly and enthusiastic marshals, safe and well signposted route, much enjoyed!

Friendliest half ever!
Super friendly runners and lovely enthusiastic marshals. Views definitely made the elevation worth it!
